"Mathematical Competencies 2.0"

The term "mathematical competency" has been popularized thanks to the PISA 2003 test and its sociological (and political) impact. Around the same date, the number "2.0" has been associated to a new way of using the World Wide Web, emphasizing web applications that facilitate interaction.

In this framework, my lecture will like to address three main issues:

  • the winding road of a mathematical education focused in achieving mathematical competency
  • the elusive role of ICT in this context
  • the need to develop interactive approaches towards "math competencies 2.0".
