Themes and topics
In summer 2012, the 16th SEFI MWG seminar will take place at the University of Sala-manca, Spain. The main topic will be the new edition of the group’s curriculum doc-ument which will use the concept of mathematical competencies as framework. A preliminary version of the document will be made available on the group’s web site (http://sefi.htw-aalen.de) by September 2011. Contributions regarding the use and implementation of the competency concept which is explained in more detail in the document, are particularly encouraged, for example:
- Advantages and risks of using the competency concept for formulating a mathematics curriculum for engineers
- Examples of learning tasks for obtaining certain mathematical competencies
- Learning arrangements for mathematical competencies
- Assessment of mathematical competencies
Other contributions related to the mathematical education of engineers are also welcome.

Abstracts of presentations or posters (maximum 1 page) should be sent to the MWG chairman (Burkhard.Alpers@htw-aalen.de) by January 15, 2012
