In 2010 the University of Salamanca was aknowledged as International Campus of Excellence. As a result, in his attempt to help in the internationalisation of the University, the General Foundation of the University of Salamanca, opens in 2011 several branches of the University of Salamanca outside of Spain. The International Campus of the University of Salamanca is mainly focused in two fields: Spanish language and Bioscience, and expects to create future leaders in these fields.
The University of Salamanca approved in 2011 to open a new branch in Auckland, New Zealand, in order to organise educational activites related to the University of Salamanca such as Spanish language courses and specialised University courses.
