TRAVELING ON SATURDAY, 19TH of May, TO ATTEND THE
17th ESN Meeting – Salamanca 19-22 May, 2007

1. Special ESN Meeting Bus Services from Madrid airport to Salamanca (venue)
We have booked 5 buses to take delegates from Madrid Airport Terminal 1 to the meeting venue in Salamanca on Saturday 19th of May. The trip is free of charge to all meeting delegates, and takes about 2.5 h. To use them, please follow the following instructions.

These special buses will depart only from Terminal 1. Accordingly, if your flight lands at another terminal (e.g. 4 or 2), you need to get to Terminal 1 using the airport free Bus Shuttle, which runs every 3 minutes. (Click here to view a Madrid Airport Map showing the bus shuttle
http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?pagename=PopupImagenes&cid=1138956583542&Language=ES_ES
).

This will quickly take you at Terminal 1. Once at Terminal 1, go to ARRIVALS and find out around one of our Organizer Assistants (there will be 5) holding the ESN Meeting sign. They will inform you where the bus is.

There will be buses departing Terminal 1 at 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 h.

2. If you cannot use any of these Special ESN meeting bus services, please use the following instructions.

Madrid Airport is located 12 km (8 miles) northeast of Madrid. Since the airport is placed within the council of Barajas, the airport is called Madrid-Barajas.

If your flight lands at Terminal 1 or 4, you need to get to Terminal 2 by the free Bus Shuttle (runs every 3 minutes). Please, click in the following link to view a Madrid Airport Map showing the bus shuttle and Underground (line 8).

Once at Terminal 2, the cheapest (1 euro) way to get into Madrid City Center is by underground (METRO). The only available line at the Airport is LINE 8. Please, have a look to the Madrid Underground Map to localize it (see northeast):

Of course, there are plenty of Taxis to get to Madrid city center. This may cost around 20 to 30 euro depending where you go, and you can get them from any Terminal.

2.1. Traveling from Madrid city center to Salamanca by Train

From Aeropuerto (Line 8), change at Nuevos Ministerios to Line 10 north direction (Fuencarral direction) and get down at Chamartin. Chamartin is a Train Station where trains depart to Salamanca.

Please, visit the following link to view the timetable of trains from Madrid to Salamanca:

There is the possibility to purchase your ticket (15.85 euro) online. However, you will not be able to download the ticket if it is the first time that you use this system. In such a case, you still can pay the ticket online, note the reference number (or print the window) and get the ticket at the train station desk (you will be asked to show the same credit card you used to purchase the ticket online). However, your seat will only be booked up to 1 hour before the departure time. In the event that you arrive at the desk after 1 h before the departure time, there still might be the possibility to get it, depending on how busy is that train. Of course, you can also forget about buying online and get the ticket directly at the station.
